New life in Lalaland
It's official now. As of yesterday I'm now in LA. Or Marina del Rey, more specifically, in this strange corporate apartment complex called Oakwood. It has a pool, convenience store, jacuzzi, phones with voicemail but no way to know if you have any messages, and only 3 DSL PC's, which are almost always occupied. My computer (along with the rest of my stuff) is up in SF still.
Today I got a very used Toyota Cressida from Rent-a-Wreck. It's pretty sad that I need to rent at all given that a bus goes right from Oakwood to work. However, my shift is so early that even the bus won't help me...
The beach is nearby. Too bad it's overcast & foggy. My cable TV has no Food Network, Bravo, or Cartoon Network, but it does add History Channel & TLC, so I guess I'll live.
Tomorrow is my first day. Ahh, $$$ again.
