"Wait for me! I wanna go to Hollywood!!" -- Jack (Sweetums)
A week of intense apartment hunting. Almost settled for apartment not much better than one from the projects that was close to work, but I came to my senses. Found a 1920's Art Deco place in Koreatown with an upbeat lady from Mississippi. But then I found a place in Hollywood that was pleasant, quiet, in a neighborhood that wasn't industrial, and that had central air! Not only that, but it's not far at all from the Jim Henson Company (with a tuxedo'd Kermit standing on top). I was so psyched (and worn out) that I didn't bother to apply until Sunday, but by then someone had beat me to it! Arrrgh! I turned in my application anyway, and then went to a wrap party for my friend's TV puppet/animation show out in Pomona. There my enabling friend Eric told me about friends of his who had a place they were leaving, as well as a place they were leasing that was part of the house they were buying. So I met them (DP of Monster Garage and his wife, documentary producer for Discovery Health) and took a look. Quite nice too! So Monday all three places called approving my credit application and I was left with a very fast decision to make.
The downside of my choice of the Hollywood place is that it's not yet ready (they're putting in parkay floor). So that threw off my weekend plans to move, but this way I get to go to Disneyland with friends.
Meanwhile, working on a movie is like trying to drive, juggle, and translate Turkish simultaneously. Somehow you're supposed to appear rested too, something I can't seem to do yet.
