Sleep schedule inverted.
It's not too late for any normal person. (Not in general -- I mean about what time it is). Yet I'm used to waking up at 3 AM for work at 4. (This really isn't as bad as you might think. No commute. Piece & quiet. No cops. However, it does make having a social life challenging as everyone else gets off at 6ish and want to do things at 8 PM, by which point you're up over 16 hours straight. Naptime becomes essential.) I've been up for a whopping 23 hours. Uggghhh.
But just as I was getting used to it... they flipped my schedule. Monday I will be starting at 4 PM and leaving at 2 AM. Nye-vampyre schedule. So much for movies at night. Or any social activity during the week unless it's with unemployed friends (which I don't have down in LA... seems like it's SF that was the employment problem)
On the other hand, while most of the Nation works, I can go to Cost-Co and go into a dance number about 50 lbs of frozen chicken wings and NO ONE WILL NOTICE! (Well, nobody except for Cost-Co workers).
I'm not psyched that I will lose that hour where I get to watch bits of Spiderman 2 on the projector in a room full of artists and John Dykstra (Star Wars). Bits that I've inspected and arranged for their viewing pleasure. At night I will likely be making sure those bits get sent to film. Not nearly as cool.
This week I saw a screening of Bugs Bunny & Daffy cartoons at the Arclight, with a woman (an acoustical consultant from England) I met on craigslist.org. Had a great time! We even both had our questions asked, which technically meant we were supposed to both get DVD boxsets of classic Warner Bros cartoons. However, only she got hers. (Now she has a good reason to buy a DVD player). The host forgot to say my name aloud and the guy who gave out DVDs didn't get the cue. By the time I got down there, he had given away the DVD to some random person after the show. Arrrrgh! I sent Arclight a letter to complain. But the main thing was I had a great time and we'll probably do it again sometime.
Ahhh, it's so good to be back in cyberspace. Writing here, chatting with people here in LA , Italy, and SF (via Indonesia) on ICQ. Try doing that in person!
Finally assembled my former-dining room table-turned-computer-desk in my bedroom only to discover that it dwarfs everything else. Not to scale. Objects in bedroom may be larger than they appear. So i'm still typing this on the floor. Floor. Nice... flat... surface. Like bed.
