Federal Excuses and Media Ass-kissers

A couple weeks ago I read on a Fire Fighter's Association website a memo to firefighters NOT to go down to New Orleans to help, but to wait for FEMA coordination. Well, here's what FEMA had those firefighters do. Guess what those diversions in Atlanta (and Virginia) were about? Not how to handle the stress of disaster. Not how to coordinate with other rescue groups. Not how to help people. Nope.

It was how to be public relation officers. They attended lectures on sexual harrassment and received goody bags with FEMA t-shirts. Re-quoted from the New York Times:
When 50 of them were finally dispatched to Louisiana, the paper reported, their first assignment was "to stand beside President Bush" as he toured devastated areas.
Utter incompetence, negligence, and a total disgrace. When I was in England during the tsunami earlier this year, I kept admiring how the media and government there responded with humanity, intelligence, and focus. Our government acted like a bunch of spoiled 8 year-old being told to clean up a mess.
